Year 2 have been learning about the Australian artist Pro Hart.
We learnt that he was a sheep farmer and miner in the Australian outback who taught himself to paint.
From drawing and sketching to the famed landscapes and narrative paintings of his heyday, Pro was energised by all forms of creativity. He was a performance artist who experimented endlessly with new forms of expression, a sculptor who loved metal and stone and an inventor extraordinaire who loved tinkering in his back shed.
Pro Hart, for the older parents, is best remembered from the TV commercial where he’d spill food onto a rug to create the picture of a dragonfly.

Students win prestigious NSW Space Discovery Award
St Bernadette's Primary Dundas Valley has won the NSW Space Discovery Program Industry Award. Judges were very impressed with the project which focused on addressing problems faced by people in war torn countries.

This morning, Year 5 led a very special Remembrance Day service at school, which was both prayerful and heartfelt. Additionally, some Year 6 students represented St Bernadette’s at the Service of Commemoration in Prince Alfred Square, Parramatta. They laid a wreath to honour the Australians who lost their lives in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The service was a moving occasion, attended by many remarkable individuals. Lest we forget.

Our revised bin system is now up and running, and our compost tumblers are getting a workout! The Year 6 Green Team has done an amazing job educating the school community on the benefits of composting and how the new bin system works. This was all made possible via our Woolworths Landcare Grant.

This morning, the FIAT Team had the privilege of delivering our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to the Samaritan’s Purse collection centre at Norwest. It was truly heartwarming for our students to witness the immense generosity pouring in from people across Australia. The experience was made even more special as we toured the centre, surrounded by dedicated volunteers, beautiful gifts, and overwhelming spirit of Christmas joy. Thank you so much for your incredible donations. We look forward to sharing with you where these boxes- filled with love- will be sent, once we receive that information.
